Brasalina Digital Illustration
For this student illustration project, the assignment was to illustrate a scene from a short story called Brasalina by Poe Ballentine.
I chose the scene where she decided that she wanted to cook a turtle and proceeded to chop its head off in front of the step grandson. I felt it would appropriate to create this idea that they were awkwardly bonding like in the story by using the same arm around the grandson's shoulder to cut the neck of the turtle. The framing, vertical direction and vaguely colored background were a way to mimic the idea of a family photo.
